Overview:

High performance bidirectional current sensor based on Hall effect.

The Hall effect-based current sensor module is useful in applications that require current monitoring.

Features:

  • Current sensor chip: ACS712ELC-30 A;
  • pin 5 V power supply, on-board power indicator;
  • the module can measure positive and negative 30 amp current, corresponding to the analog output 66 mV / A;
  • When there is no detection current, the output voltage is VCC/2;
  • PCB board size: 31 (mm) x 13 (mm);

The sensor can measure up to 30A, direct current or alternating current.

You can check the datasheet for proposed schemes for detecting current spikes or for amplifying the output.

Instructions for use:

The sensor returns a value directly proportional to the current (66 mV / A). To read this value you must use a development board equipped with at least one analog pin. You should also keep in mind that the current measurement is bidirectional so that when you write the code you use an OFFSET value (2500). An example code can be found at the bottom of the page.

To power the product you need to apply a voltage between 4.5 V - 5.5 V (recommended 5 V).
